This is a very hard relate. But also we’re not boring, we’ve just reassessed our priorities and have joy elsewhere. Whilst knowing we have a choice about what we do or don’t drink.
I’ve been on a very similar journey with booze! It used to be my absolute crutch, so much so that I actually thought I always needed it. After cutting back significantly I now feel so much more frigging FREE! Like it’s actually a choice, not a necessity. It’s soo engrained in our culture it’s actually crazy, particularly our generation! But it’s so unhealthy the extent to which we drink! Black out is the norm, it’s crazy. I love this piece particularly as it points to the nuanced middle path. It doesn’t have to be T total or boozehound!
"Get me three espresso martinis deep and I am Greek tragedy levels of open." Hard relate to this, and the anxiety it brings the next day!
Love this!
